Birds Queensland has had displays at the Ekka in Brisbane for several years, and has used this opportunity to promote the welfare of birds, and to answer people’s questions relating to birds. The Ekka stands are usually very popular among show-goers, many of whom recognise birds from their own gardens, and are interested in learning more about them. Birds Queensland members who volunteer to staff the stand usually find it a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
In addition to the production and distribution of brochures which help educate both adults and children to identify birds and suggest good places to see them, Birds Queensland provides displays at a number of events which are related to conservation, or which provide opportunities for public education. This supports similar organisations, as well as promoting both birds and Birds Queensland.

Birds Queensland is represented at a variety of other events, such as World Wetlands Day and the SGAP Spring Flower Show and Market at Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. Such events provide valuable opportunities to encourage people to protect birds and their habitat, and to better understand bird behaviour.
We also support Birds Australia and other organisations in events such as the launch of Birds in Backyards in Brisbane.
In addition, Birds Queensland members give talks and presentations at schools, retirement villages and other venues on request.
The aim of all these activities is to promote birds, birding and Birds Queensland to the community, and public and private organizations in Queensland.
